Visit dementiafriendly.org.au and sign up to become a Dementia Friend today.</p><p>* The theme for this September’s national Dementia Awareness Month is Small actions. Big difference. and will highlight the small actions people can take to create a big difference for people impacted by dementia, their families and carers.</p><p>* Dementia Awareness Month is Dementia Australia’s national awareness-raising campaign held every year throughout September.</p><p>* For Dementia Awareness Month 2018, we are asking the community to pledge their support by becoming a Dementia Friend and make a positive difference to the lives of people living with dementia, their families and carers, through increased awareness and support.</p><p>* Through the Dementia Friends program, we want to transform the way we think, act and talk about dementia.</p><p>* Dementia Australia’s Dementia Friends program is an easy-to-access and informative online resource available to anyone interested in knowing more about dementia and being empowered to do small, everyday things that can make a big difference to a person living with dementia.</p><p>* Becoming a Dementia Friend is as simple as going to the website dementiafriendly.org.au and watching three videos that explain dementia and feature interviews with people impacted by dementia.</p><p>* Becoming a Dementia Friend makes you aware of the small, everyday actions you can do to support people living with dementia to remain included, accepted and connected within their own community.</p><p>* With compassion and understanding, you can positively change the life of someone living with dementia.</p><p>* Join us and thousands of others who have already signed up to become a Dementia Friend.</p><p>* Anyone can become a Dementia Friend. Ne.</p><p>Ali sploh vemo, zakaj zbolimo ? Ne.</p><p>Danijela Hliš o tej tematiki govori ze več kot 14 let, od kar je to bolezen dobila njena mama. Danijela piše zgodbe in pesmi o življenju z demenco.</p><p>Demenca (poznamo jih več kot 100, med njimi Alzheimer)je kronična napredujoča možganska bolezen, ki prizadene višje možganske funkcije, kot so spomin, mišljenje, orientacija, razumevanje, računske in učne sposobnosti ter sposobnosti govornega izražanja in presoje. Njena najpogostejša oblika je Alzheimerjeva bolezen, ki predstavlja več kot 65 odstotkov demenc.</p><p>Pri nas v Avstraliji deluje organizacija DEMENTIA AUSTRALIA, katere članica je tudi Danijela Hlis. Ta organizacija predstavlja več kot 353,800 Avstralcev ki živijo z demenco in okoli 1.2 miljona Avstralcev ki le tem pomagajo v vsakdanjem življenju kot CARERS. Treba je poudariti, da bolezen ne prizadene zgolj bolnika, ampak tudi bližnje, ki zanj skrbijo. Prva huda preizkušnja je soočenje z boleznijo in njenimi posledicami, z napredovanjem bolezni pa je skrb za obolelega vse bolj obremenjujoča, saj postaja povsem odvisen od tuje pomoči. Za bolnika je najbolje, da čim dlje ostane v domačem okolju, vendar je nastanitev v domu starejših občanov včasih neizogibna.</p><p>Na voljo so zdravila, ki demence sicer ne ozdravijo, upočasnijo pa njeno napredovanje in za nekaj časa lahko izboljšajo simptome bolezni. Zdravila so učinkovitejša, če so predpisana v zgodnejši fazi bolezni, zato je zgodnje odkrivanje bolezni zelo pomembno.</p><p>V zadnjih nekaj letih postajajo zelo znani in pomembni programi kot so DEMENTIA FRIENDLY COMUNITIES &amp; BECOME DEMENTIA FRIEND. www.dementiafriendly.com.au</p><p>KAKO ZMANŠATI NEVARNOST DEMENCE : Kaj lahko naredimo sami?</p><p>Tudi v starosti sta priporočljivi čim večja psihična in telesna aktivnost. Raziskave kažejo, da intelektualno delo v starosti odloži pojav bolezni, tako da se demenca pojavi kasneje, kot bi se sicer. Vsekakor velja omeniti uravnoteženo prehrano z zadostno količino vitaminov in mineralov ter dosledno izogibanje škodljivim razvadam, kot sta alkohol in kajenje.
