Natančneje, ukvarja se z lastnostmi struktur v prostoru. Glavna tema njegovih raziskav na področju fleksibilnih prostorov so simetrije. Ukvarja se z vprašanji, ali ima neskončno točk v nekem prostoru simetrije v drugih prostorih in kaj se zgodi s simetrijami, če se več točk hkrati zamakne. Zveni zelo abstraktno, a Riccardo razloži tudi, kako in kdaj se je on prvič srečal z večdimenzionalnimi prostori. Riccardo je tudi znanstven komunikator in soorganizira Science Bitse v Ljubljani, kjer se trudijo približati znanost in tehnologijo čim širši javnosti. Pri tem tudi upa, da bo znanost stopila iz slonokoščenih stolpov in postala bolj dostopna vsem. He is exploring the symmetries in different spaces and is especially interested in flexible spaces, where you can find many symmetries. He explores whether you can find symmetries when you mark an infinite number of points. Riccardo is now interested in the question of what happens with symmetries, if we wiggle infinite numbers of points in one space. Do these configurations of points still maintain their symmetries? It might sound very abstract but Riccardo explains well when and how he was first introduced to multi-dimensional spaces. Riccardo is also a passionate science communicator, organising Science Bites in Slovenia. He does it for fun, but also hopes this helps to make science more accessible to the public and encourage scientists out of their ivory towers. Riccardo recommends the webpage ArXiv where you can find preprints from researchers in the fields of mathematics and theoretical physics.
