Tanja Spielberger is a German triathlete that specialises in Extreme Triathlon races (XTri). She got into triathlon more or less by accident, and after doing a couple of sprint distance triathlons, she found that the longer the distance, the better she gets. She completed Challenge Roth and a couple of Ironman events and qualified for the 2022 Ironman World Championship in Kona. In 2022, Tanja also completed the Austria Extreme Tri triathlon, first of 5 races in the Extreme Triathlon Series (XTri series). Tanja went on to complete 3 more races and is now just 1 race away from completing the series - her next (and last) race will be on November 2nd 2024 in South Africa. If she finishes, she will become the first woman who completed the XTri Series, and by finishing with a fast time, she can also become the fastest XTri Series finisher ever (fastest total time over the series). Tanja has a full-time job in insurance and balances her training with work. She wants to keep setting herself new challenges and she also wants to encourage other people, especially women, to start doing triathlons and maybe even extreme triathlons. In her free time, she loves spending time with her dog, with which she also runs and competes in dog running races.
